About "Women Artists and Feminist Art" Exhibit

According to Artnet, an art auction house, female artists represent just 2% of the art market. Through their research they found that, historically, the art market finds greater value in art that is created by men than art created by women. While there are strides for women moving past this disparity, like Jenny Saville’s painting selling at Sotheby’s for about $12.5 million which setting a world record for a living female artist, this display is to give recognition to women over the many years creating art. Art hails from all corners of the Earth and brings us together as people and we celebrate the many women artists that inspire us all. Books about Georgia O’Keeffe, Frida Kahlo, Yayoi Kusama, Kara Walker, and anthologies with so many more are available for checkout.
