D&B Hoover's contains an alert system where users can receive real time notifications of "trigger" events for a company. Triggers can be positive developments such as a new business opportunity or adverse occurrences like a potential new threat to the company. Over 70 different triggers are tracked including earnings announcements, mergers, contract wins, product recalls, and FDA approval of new drugs. Click on Explore Triggers to create a trigger alert.
Search for triggers by typing keywords in the Conceptual Search box or the Keyword Search box. Next to the term Conceptual Search is a link that enables you to switch to a Keyword Search. Once you have added your terms to the search box, click on the ADD button. The number of trigger events that match your search will be displayed. In the Triggers section you can add additional criteria that can be added to your search to narrow down your results.
Users can search for triggers based on the trigger type, relative date, and date range in the trigger section of the database. Searches can also be performed using key terms in the title and the blurb.
D&B Hoovers also offers the option of searching for triggers based on industry name or industry code. You can type this information in the search box or click on the Browse button to locate your industry. Click on the View Results button when the search is completed.
On the left side of the page are the criteria that had been used in the search. There is a Modify button that enables you to make changes. The results of your search can be sorted either by date or relevance.
