Components of an Annotated Bibliography Defined

Annotated Bibliography

A bibliography that includes annotations or summary-and-evaluation notes added to each cited work in the list.

Citation

A reference to the specific source—represented, directly quoted, or paraphrased—from which the original idea or information was obtained The citation should follow the prescribed format rules of MLA style, APA style, Chicago style, or another official citation style.

Annotation

A comment or note summarizing and evaluating a specific work.

Works Cited or Bibliography

A complete list of the works cited, attached to the end of the paper.  When the list includes works consulted but not directly cited, this list is called a Bibliography.
