Career Guidance Resources: The following resources will be helpful in determining what occupation might interest you and what level of education or skill set you will need to perform the job. Most of the information in these resources comes from government employment surveys.


Below are some terms that will appear in many of the above resources. These definitions may be helpful when using these resources.

Job Description:  Written statements that describe the duties, responsibilities, required qualifications, and reporting relationships of a particular job.

Employment Outlook/Projected Growth: A forecast of what employment will be like for a particular occupation in the future, whether there is a likely increase or decrease in the number of jobs expected to be available.

Work Environment: The surrounding conditions in which an employee operates. The work environment can be composed of physical conditions, such as office temperature, or equipment, such as personal computers. It can also be related to factors such as work processes or procedures.

Job Zone: The level of experience, education, and training required by a specific job type.
