Access World News (AWN) provides two additional features which may be helpful in your research process, Hot Topics and Special Reports. To access Hot Topics or Special Reports, click on the link found below the main search box on the right side of the page.
Hot Topics:
As the name suggests, Hot Topics provides a list of topics which are currently popular in the news and provides a starting point for your research. Hot Topics are divided in to subject areas including; current events, business and economics, social studies, science and health, sports, arts and literature, and people. Each topic includes a brief sentence about the topic as well as the search terms you might use to find more information about this topic. The search terms are written in a format that can be used in other research databases as well.
Special Reports:
Special Reports focus on topics of current interest. They include content from sources throughout the world to provide a global perspective, current and background information, statistics, maps, images, websites, and suggested search terms. New information is added daily to featured and current reports.
Each topic will be broken down in to a number of subtopics. In this example World Terrorism includes the ISIS Attack in Kabul, the Munich Mall Shooting, as well as two dozen other topics. Click on the articles to access them. Also click on the "more" option for more articles on this topic.
