EPS 5199: Using FDU's Online Library

Refine Your Search

Header image reading: continue searching using different combinations of your key words and phrases and use new key words you find during your search. Also, experiment with searching in different sources of information, like searching in more than one database.

Finding New Search Terms

As you research you will find new search terms in the information you are finding. One great location for finding new search terms is called SUBJECT TERMS. Found in both the library databases and Discovery catalog article entries, SUBJECT TERMS show you what terms are associated with your research. You can use them to identify new SEARCH TERMS. Below are two examples of where to find the SUBJECT TERMS.

Original search phrase:
"college students" AND "classical music" AND "test scores"

Examples of new/refined search phrases:

"college students" AND "classical music" AND "test scores" AND "test anxiety"

students AND examinations AND "music psychology"

"college students" AND "classical music" AND "cognitive behavioral theory"
